Natural Orange

The Natural Oranges comprise approximately 25% of the U.S. population, ranging from 21%-30% (Center for Application of Psychology Type, 1996). Their core need is to have freedom - freedom to be, freedom to act. They are free-spirited and fun loving. They resist being bound, confined, or obligated. Natural Oranges have a strong sense of individuality, and prefer to do things in their own way. In valuing their own freedom, they value the freedom of others. They put few expectations on others, and tend to be nonjudgmental. They want to be able to do their own thing while allowing others to do the same. Natural Oranges are very flexible with time, ideas, and actions.

Natural Oranges live in the moment. They focus on today, not yesterday or tomorrow. They are keenly aware that yesterday is gone and do not spend time worrying about what can not be changed. They take from yesterday what they can use today. Tomorrow is not guaranteed so they do not spend time planning for and worrying about things that may never happen. They live life to its fullest. They see life as a game that should actively played and enjoyed. They are not spectators, they are participators. Natural Oranges are very hands-on and learn by doing.

Optimism and motivation are contagious when you are around a Natural Orange! They are charming, witty, and fun to be with. They are very generous and willing to share. Natural Oranges believe, "what is mine is yours, and what is yours is mine". Share and share alike. Natural Oranges have a positive outlook on life and do not get down easily. Being told "no" is considered an exciting challenge of changing the other person's mind. When they do experience a setback, it us usually only temporary.

Natural Oranges have a high need for mobility. They find it very difficult to sit in one place for an extended period of time. They need to be up and moving and doing. Waiting of any kind is like psychological death. They become impatient and bored when action is delayed or stopped. Their motto is "Just Do It". Don't think about, don't plan it, and don't worry about other people's approval - just do it! Remember, sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.

Natural Oranges are known for their risk-taking. They are very adventurous, and will often try something "just to see what happens." They are impulsive, spontaneous, and can act on a moment's notice. This makes them great resources in crisis situations. They have excellent negotiation skills and can easily create win-win situations.
