Make
A Choice - Take Control
Somewhere between the extremes of “too little” and “too much” stress exists an
amount of stress that is healthy, motivating, and stimulating. Therefore, stress
cannot and should not be eliminated, but it can be effectively managed.
When stress reaches an
extreme level, it can be debilitating and even threaten your life or career.
With too little stress, you lose stimulation and motivation. You simply don’t
have any reason to face each new day. Whereas, too much stress is a known
leading factor in disease causation. Both extremes can contribute to a
deterioration of your physical, mental, emotional and behavioral well-being.
The goal of this workshop is
to encourage and empower individuals to make the choice to effectively manage
their stress, and to optimally foster their well-being and quality of life.
Utilizing experiential activities and discussion, workshop participants will
gain an understanding of:
Ø
the conceptual and functional definitions of stress;
Ø
the fundamental human needs underlying stress;
Ø
catastrophic and normative stressors;
Ø
interaction style and temperament specific stressors;
Ø
physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral stress indicators;
Ø
a model for effectively managing stress.
