Concordia Wesleyan Church

Dear Marla,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for coming to Concordia and opening our Wednesday night series at the Concordia Wesleyan Church. I also wanted to tell you a little about how we incorporated the Spectrum Development Program into our church’s Wednesday night bible study program.

After your inspiring opening session on Sunday evening we had a tremendous turnout for the Wednesday follow-up session with over 50 people in attendance. Since we only meet one hour each Wednesday, the first few weeks of the program covered the basic self awareness and personal self development sessions of the Spectrum Development Program. During the following weeks we incorporated our new found knowledge in a couple of different ways. Natural groups were charged to select characters from the bible that they believed exemplified their respective temperaments. Each group had to cite specific chapter and verse that supported their selections. Lively discussions ensued, and one of the byproducts was a lengthy dialogue concerning which temperaments were exemplified by Jesus Christ Himself.  During the final part of our series our pastor spent some time discussing spiritual gifts and we concluded by breaking into blended groups and identified our own perceived spiritual gifts as the related to our temperaments.

The was a wonderful experience for our church. I was pleased and surprised at the warm reception this series received. Participants in the group ranged in age from the early twenties to senior citizen. Some of the most insightful comments came from the more senior participants. I believe that an important benefit was gained by incorporating the spiritual gifts into the training. I felt that it really helped some people come to realize for the first time some of the wonderful gifts they had to offer, and as a result encouraged them to share their gifts by becoming more involved in our church’s ministry.

Once again I thank you, Marla, for helping us launch this worthwhile and meaningful program as part of our church’s Wednesday bible study program.
